- Wing skeletons
The
first half of the day was pretty much like the last few
days...preparing ribs and completing the fluting. I guess
there was an extra bit which was removing the labels and writing
in pen what each rib is.
Then the fun could start! I started with
the right wing and clecoed on all the ribs, and then match drilled
all the holes. There are some holes that don't line up
because of keeping the parts common with an RV-8. The
instructions tell you what to do, but at first I scratched my head
thinking I had done it wrong. A quick read and I was
relieved to know that this is normal and I had to drill new holes.
The second picture below shows this.

Now its quite confusing which rib goes where to be
honest and even more confusing when they are painted so for now I
have given them an index marked on the rib and on the drawing.
I will have to punch a series of numbers so that this works when
they have been painted.
It seems its traditional to take these shots...well
you've got have a bit of fun !
So then I took the right wing apart again ready for
deburring.
There was
just enough time to assemble the left wing for marking up but
drilling will have to wait for another day

mmm now this is me trying to hard to be arty
!!!!!!!!!!
